Getting started with Bolt Action

Bolt Action is one of these games which generate what i call “army list building addiction”, with so many options available even with only the core rulebook available there is a lot of fun building lists.

As i said before i bought the starter set Assault on Normandy, an excellent product :

Bolt Action: Assault on Normandy contains:

Full-colour 216-page hardback Bolt Action rulebook
40 multi-pose, hard plastic 28mm miniatures:
20 US Army infantry
20 German Heer infantry
1 hard plastic Ruined Farmhouse
8 Bolt Action Orders Dice

So, i decide to go for the Germans and this gives me 20 plastic infantry to start with, as i said there was already lot of fun preparing lists with the core rulebook but a proper army list has to be built following the army book, and here we have the mighty Armies of Germany book with all available units as well as the theater selection guide, a list of allowed units based on the period and the war scenario, it is not mandatory to follow this theater selection guidelines but they add some flavor to the list :

Following the army book i decided to build a 500 pts ist, a good solid core of infantry and MG (a must have in this game and even more important for the germany because of the special rule)

1 Veteran 1st Lieutenant + 1 veteran man 103pts
1 Grenadier squad = NCO with Assault Rifle + 6 men,  1LMG 95pts
1 Veteran Grenadier squad = NCO with Assault Rifle + 8 men, 2LMG, 2Assault Rifle, 2PanzerFaust 182pts
1 Veteran Sniper team 65pts
1 Veteran Motorcycle with MMG sidecar 48pts
Total 493 pts
Dice 5

5 Units, lots of MG and a very cool model which i love since the time of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, of course the motorcycle with sidecar!!

I will make use of all my models, this is what i built so far:

Let’s see how it goes… 😉
